“Zohran will make it faster, easier, and cheaper to start and run a business in New York City, so that bodegas and corner stores stay open and dollar slices come back. He will cut small business fines in half, speed up permitting and make online applications easier, and increase funding for 1:1 small business support by 500 percent. And he’ll appoint a Mom-and-Pop Czar to make sure it happens.” (emphasis mine)
The lifeblood of the city are the small businesses - the pizza shops, the bodegas, bars, restaurants, etc - on every street. Without them there is far less culture and less unique about the city. We should be giving smaller businesses more advantages instead of overburdening them (which only serves corporate and big business’s interest).
“[small businesses] account for over 90 percent of all firms in the city and who employ nearly half of all New Yorkers within the private sector.” (emphasis mine)
The rent freeze is not the only housing policy that Zohran champions…
“As Mayor, Zohran will put our public dollars to work and triple the City’s production of permanently affordable, union-built, rent-stabilized homes – constructing 200,000 new units over the next 10 years.”
Housing and housing costs are a massive issue - and the construction of 200k new affordable, union built, rent-stabilized homes will reduce the cost of housing for everyone.
Additionally:
“For the additional housing we need, Zohran will initiate a Comprehensive Plan for New York City to create a holistic vision for affordability, equity, and growth.”
More housing, more affordable housing; a new hope for New Yorkers.
Not only does he have the policies - he has the support.
Okay, so…. This one is more about why you should actively support him right now; he has got the policies down - and now he is within striking distance of Cuomo.
Take a minute (literally its 1 minute long!) to watch this video from earlier in the week:
In the final round of ranked choice voting in this Emerson poll, Zohran has closed it to an 8 point race. Remarkably close…
And still, 33% of people have not heard of Zohran yet – his ceiling is high!
Now is the time to band together, share this post, and tell your friends/family.
Day 1
(Wednesday, May 28th)
Fast, fare free buses. 🚎
“Public transit should be reliable, safe and universally accessible. But one in five New Yorkers struggle to afford the ever rising fare. Adding insult to injury: our city’s buses are the slowest in the nation, robbing working people of precious time for family, leisure and rest.” (Emphasis mine)
Make sure to read the snippets on the platform page on what he commits to doing; but two of the handful of commitments are building priority lanes and removing the fares for everyone on every bus. This would be a remarkable quality of life improvement for millions of New Yorkers, immediately.
Not only that - increased capacity, free time, freedom of movement, etc - is a guaranteed boon to the businesses of New York.

Many insist you’re not a genuine New Yorker until you’ve clocked a full decade here…. by that measure – I’m barely scraping by.
Others maintain it’s an inherited title, reserved exclusively for those born within the five boroughs.
To me, being a New Yorker isn’t about years on your lease or where you were born—it’s about team spirit, resilience, and an open heart. It’s showing up for your neighbors, celebrating the city’s vibrant diversity, and sharing in its highs and lows.
It’s welcoming newcomers with curiosity, lifting one another through storms both literal and figurative, and carrying on the magic that makes this place ours.
It’s the resolute and unwavering conviction that when our neighbor is lifted, we all rise, stitching our individual journeys into a tapestry of shared success — because here, it’s We, not Me.
On the topic of who should be our face and captain - I have written about the conclusion that a fair amount of us have already come to — Cuomo is not right for the city — and therefore you should not rank Cuomo at all.
Not only that - he used $61,000,000 (61 million!!!) of NY taxpayer money on legally defending himself. Corrupt, unethical. He’s no New Yorker.
By the way, this is all before the other disastrous bullshit he did as governor - including cuts to the MTA & Medicaid — with Democrats like this, who needs the GOP.
Zohran For Mayor
Currently in second place - Zohran Mamdani is a New York State Assemblymember running for mayor of NYC. Beyond the invigoration he has already brought to the city with his energy; he has an inspiring platform that gives hope and an aura that inspires faith.
I won’t go on and on about him and his platform here — but here are some the top things in his platform (which you can fully read here) that I am most excited about:
Freeze the rent.
Fast, fare free buses.
Buses are already one of my favorite things about the city - they are already great but they can be stellar (and free!).
City-owned grocery stores.
Grocery stores without the burden of overhead or a profit motive will give us access to drastically cheaper groceries.
Various housing initiatives
Housing prices are out of control, in addition to freezing the rent, Zohran will not just change zoning rules; but actually solve the issue to create affordable housing.
In addition to all of this, he has a plan to crack down on bad landlords - which is way overdue.
Hope for a better future - one where your leader that you elect actually does the things he promises; for the people - is rare, especially in politics these days; and that is what feels different about this campaign.
Hope for NYC.

Thank you everyone on Bluesky for 60,000+ followers!
I did do one of these for 40k, and 50k, but 60k is just a hugeeee milestone!
I’ve been really grateful to find such a great community here and so many that have been supportive of my content here on my website. Finding great people and getting support has been far easier here than any other social network I have ever been on.
If you haven’t already - definitely start an account on Bluesky. It’s growing a lot and a lot of great voices are on there. The more folks on it, versus billionaire owned networks - the better off we will be.
Check out my collection of great starter packs that I have put together, if you are interested!
Here in NYC, we have ranked choice voting for local elections — if you’re unfamiliar, check this out.
DO NOT RANK/VOTE CUOMO!
Cuomo has so many negative points to his politics & behavior that make him fully unqualified. If you forget, or just do not know yet - look up why he resigned from governor, look up the covid nursing home situation, and there are many other issues you can look up.
You can choose to rank up to 5 candidates. In order to give the best chance for our city to be free of Cuomo - you should rank 5 candidates that are not Cuomo.
