Charity Spotlight - City Harvest

City Harvest

Quick spotlight on a group keeping New Yorkers fed, not food wasted.

What is City Harvest?

City Harvest is New York City’s first and largest food rescue organization. They move surplus, good food from restaurants, groceries, farms, and manufacturers to food pantries, soup kitchens, and community partners across the city.

Why I like recommending them

  • Local and concrete. Directly serves New Yorkers.
  • Food waste + hunger. Uses food that would otherwise be thrown away to feed neighbors.
  • Enivronmental. Saving this food saves tons of emissions every year.

How to support

They also have ways to volunteer, fundraise, and start food drives if you want to plug in beyond a one‑time donation.
